This case involves a motor vehicle accident that occurred on November 28, 1997 at the intersection of Hobbs Road and Route 1 in North Hampton, New Hampshire. The plaintiff was traveling south on Route 1 approaching the intersection of Hobbs Road when a pick up truck turned in front of the plaintiff’s car at the entrance to Hobbs Road. The plaintiff turned to avoid the truck and was struck by the defendant who was at the entrance to Hobbs Road turning left onto Route 1. The plaintiff, who was not wearing his seat belt, sustained severe personal injuries and became a quadriplegic from the accident.

The defendant alleged he was trying to make a right turn at the time of the accident, not a left turn as the plaintiff was alleging.

After extensive investigation into the plaintiff’s accident based on examination of the defendant’s car and the scene of the accident, the reconstruction expert concluded that the defendant was indeed making a left turn. The case settled prior to trial for $2.3 million.
