Mustard Gas Exposure On Fishing Boat

New Bedford, Massachusetts – Investigators are pondering if Mustard gas made the crew of the 145-foot ESS Pursuit sick off the coast of Long Island last Sunday. The New Jersey Based clam boat was reported to have pulled up eight military shelves, possibly dating back to the World War I era.

Crewmen have begun the process of decontamination to find out exactly what happened. Konstantin Burndshov, one of the six crew members, reported he experienced blistering and difficulty breathing and others reported nose and eye irritation.

The Coast Guard worked to secure the ship off New Bedford so it could be moored as the crew feared it could run aground. Click here to read the complete story on Boston.com.
