Slew of Cruise Ship Sexual Assaults Involving Underage Victims
For some cruise ship passengers, what is supposed to be a fun family vacation turns into a nightmare when they learn their minor child has been the victim of a sexual assault. Sadly, there have been a slew of cruise ship sexual assaults during the past few months involving underage victims.
Earlier this month, federal authorities arrested 29-year-old Senad Djedovic, an assistant cruise director for Norwegian Star. Allegedly, he had sex with a 16-year-old female passenger, and he then kept sexually explicit pictures of her on his computer along with other pornographic content depicting minors.
In January, Fabian Palmer, a 25-year-old Royal Caribbean pool attendant, was indicted for sex abuse of a minor for allegedly luring a 14-year-old female passenger into a men’s locker room and having sex with her there.
About a week before the Palmer indictment, Luis Scavone, 20, and a 15-year-old male were arrested for allegedly raping a 15-year-old female passenger on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship. According to the victim, she met the 15-year-old male at an onboard teen club, and he invited her to a party in his room. She told authorities that when she got to the room and only Scavone was present she attempted to leave, but the two males prevented her from doing so and both raped her.
